Poster Mono rethinks where the line between graphic design and typography lies. It treats the data format of a typeface as a possibility to map graphics to the keyboard interface. Graphic design made typable. Poster Mono is based on a square grid to allow the glyphs to merge with each other seamlessly, after creating the shape one likes they can be stretched to further disguise the components. This encrypted typeface is a tool to experiment with abstract shapes, forcing the designer to use a new workflow. Randomness and happy accidents are a big part of using this typeface, because one is typing/creating blindly in a way. Poster Mono is the start of a family of monospace graphic-fonts, all based on the same grid.If you want to play with Poster Mono, please get in touch and tell me what you intend it for.
